Dr. Ujjal Mukherjee is an accomplished academic leader, educator, and researcher with over 16 years of experience in academia, along with 5 years in industry and 5 years as an entrepreneur. He currently serves as Professor and Area Head – OB and HRM, and Joint Head – Consultancy at the Institute of Public Enterprise, Hyderabad. His academic leadership spans reputed institutions, where he has contributed to academic administration, curriculum development, accreditation processes, and faculty mentoring.

Dr. Mukherjee’s professional experience in marketing and production, coupled with his entrepreneurial ventures, brings a strong application-oriented perspective to his teaching and institutional roles. His exposure to business operations, organizational growth, and people management across diverse settings allows him to bridge theory with practice effectively.

His research interests lie in positive psychology, happiness, and well-being, particularly how these areas relate to leadership, workplace behavior, and organizational effectiveness. A prolific researcher, he has published over 50 research papers in ABDC, SCOPUS-indexed, and other peer-reviewed journals, including Employee Relations, International Journal of Organizational Analysis, and Management and Labour Studies Journal. His award-winning case studies, published by Ivey Publishing, Emerald, and Routledge, focus on real-world management issues such as crisis handling, leadership behavior, and emotional resilience. His work has received recognition from institutions such as IIMs, TAPMI, and several international academic forums.

Dr. Mukherjee is actively involved in teaching Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, and Research Methods to MBA and doctoral students. He has conducted over 100 workshops across the country on academic writing and teaching, with a special focus on case teaching and writing, research writing with a special focus on systematic literature reviews, guiding young scholars and faculty members throughout the process.

In addition to his academic engagements, Dr. Mukherjee has played a key role in training senior and top management teams from organizations such as Power Grid, NMDC, ONGC, and Econz, among others. His training programs focus on positive psychology, resilience, workplace happiness, and employee well-being, helping organizations foster emotionally intelligent leadership and healthier work cultures. Additionally, he is involved in training and mentoring the top management of a well-known academic institution in South India, supporting their leadership development and organizational growth initiatives.

He is a Certified University Teacher (Newcastle University, Australia) and a Certified Happiness Coach (Berkeley Well-Being Institute, USA). Dr. Mukherjee integrates well-being and psychological insights into his approach to management education, enabling impactful learning and sustainable organizational transformation.
