Biography

Dr P S Janaki Krishna is an  Professor at Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE), Hyderabad. She is also the Head for Centre for Sustainable Development (CSD) at IPE. She obtained M.Sc and Ph.D from Andhra University. Visakhapatnam. She was awarded with three Gold Medals in M.Sc. and in the current year awarded as “Best Teacher’ by Indian Red Cross Association. She is alumni of International Agricultural Centre, Wageningen, the Netherlands where she was trained in Biotechnology Management. She has 25 years of experience in research, teaching and technology management and experienced in dealing with various stakeholder organizations/groups.

She actively worked for management of Netherlands Biotechnology Programme implemented by IPE and acted as interface between technology developers and technology end-users. She is also involved in executing, monitoring and evaluation of the projects funded by various agencies viz; Department of Science and Technology, Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Netherlands, University Grants Commission, Consultancy Development Centre, DSIR, AP Biodiversity Project of United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Australia India Council, etc. She participated in a number of national and international conferences. She contributes regularly to electronic forums on biotechnology being organized by Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO. She participated along with Indian Delegation in the International Conference on “The twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties on Biological Diversity (COP 12) and the first meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing (NP-MOP 1)” which are being hosted by the Government of the Republic of Korea at the Alpensia Convention Center in Pyeongchang, Republic of South Korea. She is a Member of ‘e-agriculture community’ of FAO. She organized 15 training programmes sponsored by National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (niMSME) in setting up of rural bio-enterprises and also conducted training programme in managing biotechnologies sponsored by AICTE. She conducted several pre project formulation workshops and national and international conferences on managerial issues relating to Biotechnology, Climate Change and Sustainable Development and published books and contributed chapters in climate change and sustainable development. She published about 50 papers in national and international journals. She is one of the regular writers for an international news report “Information Systems for Biotechnology (ISB) News Report” which is on ‘Listserv’ being published by Virginia Polytech and State University, USA. Her current areas of research interest include sustainable development, waste management, e-Agriculture and Public Private Partnerships.

  • At the Institute of Public Enterprise, Hyderabad, India,Involved in teaching, research, training and consultancy. Also working as Coordinator for Industry Interface.
  • Closely involved in organizing pre project formulation workshops for projects identification in the priority areas of Andhra Pradesh Netherlands Biotechnology Programme (APNLBP).
  • Management, appraisal and close monitoring and evaluation of projects relating to agricultural biotechnology and animal husbandry supported under APNLBP.
  • Actively associated in awareness camps on plant biotechnology and biosafety and participatory technology development workshops.
  • Compilation of the newsletter “Biotechnology News” published from Andhra Pradesh Netherlands Biotechnology Programme.
