About FDP
IPE is organizing a Faculty Development Program on Creating Online Courses and Alternative Assessment Tests on May 14, 2023. The idea of this FDP is stemmed from the current changes in education landscape in India and Globally. With the introduction of National Digital University, as seen by recent trends in enrollments into Online programs offered by various Government and private Universities, success witnessed by universities in western countries, and with great success stories of EduTech platforms, it is clearly visible that Online Courses / Programs will sail safely with offline courses / programs. The UGC and other academic regulators in India are aggressively promoting ODL courses and MOOCs and are of the opinion that in future higher education landscape will be dominated by online education. Currently also we see a huge demand for online courses in the arena of employability skills, up-skills and specialized skills.
To survive the competition and to keep abreast with current and future changes / challenges in education environment, all the faculty are expected to have competencies in teaching online courses (pre-recorded or live). In addition, as we witness dramatic changes in students learning models and assessments conducted by the recruiters, there is a need to adapt alternative assessment tests to check learning levels of students. Importantly, there is a need to map Bloom’s Taxonomy, Kirkpatrick’s and others training evaluation models with students’ assessments. In this context, the FDP on Creating Online Courses and Alternative Assessment Tests gain importance.
