CENTER FOR CORPORATE GOVERNANCE

The Centre for corporate Governance was set up to promote good Corporate Governance (CG). Over the last several years through its research consultancy and training programs the centre has build extensive knowledge and expertise in various aspects of CG and Corporate Boards.

POLICY

The primary aim of the centre is to build and disseminate knowledge of corporate governance through its research, publications, seminars, conferences and workshops. Further it provides consultancy to Government organizations, public and private companies, as well as NGO’s in implementing the highest standards of corporate governance. Through its training and teaching programs it enables existing and future directors to better understand the varied aspect of CG making them effective contributors of the board. Its research and publication support setting of standards and policy formation by regulatory bodies, professional institutes and industry associations.

ONGC SUBIR RAHA CHAIR ON CORPORATE GOVERNANCE

In recognition of the work done by IPE and to further promote CG, ONGC Ltd has instituted the ONGC Subhir Raha Chair at IPE to

  • Identify and formulate criteria and indicators of good CG
  • Integrate and standardize the existing body of knowledge, systems, structures, models and mechanisms associated with different forms of CG
  • Derive mutually agreed-upon CG practices beneficial to all stakeholders

ACCREDITED MEMBER OF NFCG

The Centre is a member of the National Foundation of Corporate Governance (NFCG), Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. It works with the other members to support NFCG in their efforts.

RECOGNIZED BY AICTE

The Centre has successfully completed a National Coordinated program (NCP) that was sanctioned by AICTE to coordinate corporate governance research and conferences at a national level in collaboration with other academic institutes and corporate

OUTPUT

Since its inception in 2008 the centre has played a significant role in the development and promotion of Corporate Governance in India. To disseminate knowledge on Corporate Governance, CCG along with their team have been striving to evolve and strengthen good governance practices in Indian organizations. To this end the centre has :

  • Conducted about 65 training programs and workshops for board members and senior executives
  • Organized 17 international and national conferences and seminars
  • Published 15 books and several articles in reputed international and national journals
  • Completed seven research projects
  • Supporting Ph.D students in their research

Indian Journal of Corporate Governance is a bi-annual refereed journal that provides a forum for discussions and exchanging ideas, research and practices in the area of corporate governance. We have partnered with Sage publishers which will help make the reach of the journal go global.

CORE TEAM

Dr R K Mishra, ONGC Subir Raha Chair Professor on Corporate Governance and Director, Institute of Public Enterprise, Hyderabad, India is a graduate of International Management Program, SDA Bocconi, Milan, Italy. Dr Mishra has taught at the University of Bradford, and was a visiting Professor at Maison Des Sciences De L’ Hommes, Paris and Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana.
He is a member of the UN Task Force on International Standards of Excellence in Public Administration and Education. He is Vice President, International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration, Brussels. He is special invite on OECD Working Group on Privatization and Corporate Governance of SOEs and Asian Network of Corporate Governance. He is on the Advisory Panel on Corporate Governance constituted by the Govt. of India. He is a member of OECD. As an active participant on various Public Enterprise Boards and though his research studies he has built unparallel expertise on the role of board of directors in Public Sector in India. He has prolifically published many articles and conducted training programs in this area.

Prof J Kiranmai, Head, CCG is currently Assistant Professor in the area of accounting and finance and Coordinator, PGDM – Banking Insurance and Finance at the Institute of Public Enterprise. She holds an M. Phil in Management. She has undertaken many research and consultancy assignments apart from organizing management development programs at the Institute. She has attended and presented research papers in national and international seminars. Her areas of interest include corporate governance, public enterprise management and restructuring

CS. T Anil Kumar, Member, is a Company Secretary with more than two decades of experience in the areas of Finance, Administration, Marketing, Legal, Secretarial having worked in Private & Public Sector Companies in India, East Africa & UAE. He has worked in close association with SEBI, NSE, BSE and MCX-SX. CS Anil Kumar has worked on projects relating to effective corporate governance and corporate social responsibility practices in the public & private sector. He leads the team for evaluating the Impact Assessment Study and Baseline survey of CSR projects of ONGC and MIDHANI.

Ms B Deepa, Research Associate is a MBA in HR. He holds the center’s secretariat and maintains a database on public sector enterprise.
